The eighth edition of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship – ADXC, held last Friday, the 6th, at the ADNEC Center in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, provided a true spectacle for Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling fans. Promoted by International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, ADXC 8 presented a mega-event-worthy structure and offered the ideal conditions for the 26 athletes on the card to give their best.

“The Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship continues to achieve local and international success, driven by our commitment to attract top-level professional athletes and new talents. The Al Ain edition, set among its historic landmarks and beautiful landscapes, had an impressive turnout, highlighting its growing popularity,” said Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM.

In the main bouts, the big highlight was Brazilian Jafel Filho, who defeated Iraqi Amir Albazi by unanimous decision after an aggressive performance over the five rounds. Roberto Cyborg faced more challenges against Ghanaian Haisam Hida, but also had his hand raised at the end of the fight, in a split decision. The biggest surprise of the night came in the match between Khaled Al Shehhi and Thalison Soares. The Emirati surprised the world by dominating the Brazilian world champion for most of the fight and taking his back in the final round to secure the victory.

“I’m happy for the opportunity to compete at ADXC,” celebrated Jafel. “My opponent is top 3 in my category in MMA, so I trained hard for this fight and I’m very pleased with the result.”

Another standout performance came from Brazilian Maria Luisa Delahaye, who imposed herself against the favorite Brenda Larissa and took home the ADXC trophy. On the showcase card, the prodigy Daniel 220v also thrilled the crowd. With an aggressive, pressure-heavy game, the 12-year-old boy proved once again that he is exceptional by submitting Thor Koringa with a rear-naked choke.
