Last Saturday, the 7th, BJJ STARS 14 took place, and one of the main highlights of the night was the fight between Jansen Gomes and Fellipe Andrew for the middleweight belt of the organization. A fight that stirred the scene, and with Jansen’s victory over Fellipe by points, it opened up great opportunities.

Right after being crowned champion and receiving the belt from Fepa Lopes, the event’s owner, “Nenego” grabbed the microphone to make the challenge everyone wanted to hear. The PPG athlete stated that he would like to face Mica Galvão, the middleweight champion, and unify the belts.

This is a fight the public has been wanting for a long time, since the 2023 IBJJF World Championship, when Jansen defeated Tainan Dalpra and established himself as one of the top names in the division. At BJJ STARS 11, held last year, the two even faced off after Jansen defeated Gustavo Batista in one of the event’s superfights, but, up until now, the match has not been confirmed.

However, 2025 is the deadline for this fight to happen, and it was Jansen Gomes himself who said so in an exclusive interview with BJJ CRIA, right after BJJ STARS 14. According to Jansen, he believes he will be the first of the big names rumored by the media and the public to face Mica Galvão in a superfight. “Nenego” also made it clear that he doesn’t care about the outcome but wants to see the end of this story. If the fight doesn’t happen next year, he will give up on the matchup.

What has already been stated is that Fepa Lopes has given up on this duel, as he has been trying to arrange matches between Mica Galvão, Tainan, and Jansen but has encountered various obstacles in recent years. Will we finally see one of these fights happen in 2025? We’ll have to wait for the next chapters of this long saga.
